How To Pick A Good Domain Name | The Best Place That Offers Domain Registration
When first starting out on the internet you will probably want to build a website, and websites always begin with a domain name. The domain name is the name of and where your site is located (Such as mine is netsuccessblog.com), but where is the best place to register your domain and what do you look for when registering a domain?
The Registrar
Well first let’s start off with the place you register your domain, the registrar. There are thousands of registrars out there that will offer the same services at pretty well the same quality but what does differ from registrar to registrar is price. You do not want to go over $12 for a .com domain and do not go over $10 for a .net or .org. Do not pay more than $5 for an .info domain; keep in mind an .info can be purchased for $0.89 at GoDaddy. That is the lowest price I have seen for an .info and that is what you should only have to pay.
.com, .net, .org?
You might be wondering which extension to register your domain in. Well .com is by far the most popular domain where all 3 letter domain names are taken, there are literally millions maybe even billions of registered .com’s out there. Although there is a high amount of .com domains registered, they are still the best extension to register a domain with because they are so popular. If the .com is not available then your second best choice would be a .net or .org, they are the runners up to .com’s. Register in one of the domains listed above but try to stay away from .info domains because these days they are usually associated with scam sites.
What should my domain name be?
Your domain name can be anything that describes you or your brand. Pick a domain name that is no longer than 3 words and is very easy to remember. Avoid using punctuation in your domain name such as dashes or dots, these make domain names harder to remember (netsuccessblog.com is better than net-success-blog.com). Just make sure you keep your domain name short, sweet and easy to remember.
Where is the best place to buy a domain name?
I have had a great experience with Godaddy.com, Moniker.com, Namecheap.com and Dynadot.com. Moniker is a great place that offers domain registration but these all have great services and prices that will help you find the domain you are looking for.

Godaddy is a good option…
One thing that may be worth mentioning is the fact that many great domain registrars are actually very poor hosts and vise-versa. Many inexperienced people (such as myself a few years back) do not know this and then get somewhat screwed later.

My friend and I were recently discussing about how technology has become so integrated in our day to day lives. Reading this post makes me think back to that debate we had, and just how inseparable from electronics we have all become.
I don’t mean this in a bad way, of course! Ethical concerns aside… I just hope that as memory becomes cheaper, the possibility of transferring our memories onto a digital medium becomes a true reality. It’s one of the things I really wish I could see in my lifetime.
Thanks for the post too!
