Is Direct Linking Effective? An Alternative To The Direct Link Method

Is direct linking dead? Well possibly. You might think that’s a bold statement but there are many easier methods than direct linking. So why would it be dead? This is because over the last few years almost all ad-words systems sold focus on one method, and that method is simply direct linking. The reason why people mess up and lose money with Google ad-words is mostly caused by them using the wrong methods, which doesn’t make them any sales. You may have been taught the wrong method, and method may be direct linking. You will understand why as I explain on.

As you can see above is the direct linking method, it is very simple. How it works is you have an ad that you placed on Google ad-words and it sends you directly to the product or the sales page. Now this method doesn’t work for these following reasons:

1. Google doesn’t like the ad because it receives a poor quality score. This is because the ad links directly to the sales page or product and that page is not optimized for the keywords that you are using in your ad, so therefore your quality score will be very low.

2. Google is going to increase your bid amounts due to a low quality score. Google will make you have a higher cost per click because of the Low quality score.

3. It is very expensive to run a direct linking campaign.

The result of all that I poor campaign position because Google does not like or favor that ad and you are likely to end up with a loss.

The New Method:

This is the new method that I have been using for several months now. This is how it works: You have an ad that you place on Google Ad-words, just like you do with direct linking. However, you don’t send them straight to the sales page or products site, you send them to YOUR site. Now, your site could be a review or an article about the product, your own customized sales page, or a bonus offer, whatever you would like to make it. Then once they go to your site, you get them to enter their name and email address, once they have done that you send them directly to the product. Now that may have sounded pretty simple but it also goes on further.

Now because you have got their name and email address, if the person doesn’t buy your product you are promoting the first time you can send the offer to them again or send them a similar offer that they might be interested in. You can send them offers and products that they might find useful again and again (But do not spam them!). Eventually you will have plenty of emails in your email list so you can send all these people other offers and products, email lists convert very well and will make you more money.

Here are the main points for the New Method:

1) Your ad gets a great quality score. This is because you have your own site and you can use your own keyword techniques.

2) You get a cheaper cost-per-click due to good quality score.

3) Higher positions on Google. You will be able to beat the competitors that use the out-dated direct linking method.

4) You build a targeted email list. You can send promotions to that list again and again.

So it doesn’t take a genius to figure out why you may have been failing with advertising on Google, you have been using direct linking when you should be using the more effective method. The advantages are very clear in the new method, you get better positioning at a cheaper price which will beat the competitors that are still using direct linking, and you get a email list to send offers to as much as you want. Creating your own landing pages or sites take a little bit more time but are very easy with today’s new site building software, and are definitely worth all the time it takes. You will increase your sales greatly using this method and will make more profit in your online business.
